Future Lancaster is run and operated right here in Lancaster out of The Candy Factory on North Queen Street. We believe in the power of people and the community they build together, and that has to start with treating the people who visit this site the way we would want to be treated.

The short version

• We collect your name and email only when you submit them to us via our forms.
• We use them to send you what you signed up for, and to answer you when you write to us.
• We never sell, rent, or trade your information.
• You can ask us what we hold about you, and ask us to delete it at anytime.

What you give us

There are two places on this site that ask you for anything, and both are optional:

• The email signup. Your name and email address, so we can send you events, new episodes, and the resources we turn up along the way.
• The contact and guest-suggestion form. Your name, your email address, and whatever you choose to write in the message.

We keep what you send so we can reply and follow up. If you would rather we did not keep it, say so and we will remove it.

What gets collected automatically

Like most websites, this one records some basic technical information when you visit:

• Traffic analytics. Which pages get read, roughly where readers are, and how they found us. We look at this in aggregate to understand what is useful. We do not use it to identify you.
• Server logs. Our host records IP addresses, browser type, pages requested, and timestamps. These are kept for security and troubleshooting, and are deleted on a rolling basis.

Cookies

Cookies are small files a site stores in your browser. We use them to keep the site working properly and to measure traffic. Embedded content, such as a YouTube episode or our Instagram feed, may set its own cookies when it loads. Your browser settings let you block or clear cookies whenever you want, and the site will still work if you do.

Who else touches this information

We use a short list of outside services to run the site. Each one only gets what it needs to do its job:

• Anchor Hosting a locally owned hosting compnay hosts the site and keeps the server logs.
• Gravity Forms handles form submissions and the email that comes from them.
• Google Analytics gives us aggregate traffic numbers.
• YouTube and Instagram serve the episodes and the photo feed you see embedded here.

Each of these has its own privacy policy, and we would encourage you to read the ones you care about. We do not hand them anything beyond what their service needs to function.

What we do not do

• We do not sell, rent, or trade your information. Not to anyone, not for any price.
• We do not build advertising profiles or hand you off to retargeting networks.
• We do not buy email lists, and we do not add you to ours because we met you somewhere.
• We do not pass your details to other organizations without asking you first.

Your choices

• Every email we send has an unsubscribe link, and it works immediately.
• You can ask us what information we hold about you, and we will tell you.
• You can ask for a copy of it, or ask us to delete it.
• You can manage or clear cookies in your browser at any time.

Write to us through the contact form and we will take care of it.

Children

This site is meant for business owners and neighbors, not for children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent us something, tell us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If how we handle your information changes, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Nothing here is written to be clever, so if something reads as unclear, that is a mistake on our part and we would like to hear about it.
